Why should I incorporate myself and exercise my profession through a company ?
Essentially, in order to benefit from tax benefits. It’s your company which will pay you a salary which will be taxed at a rate of personal taxation. However, a part of the income of the company will remain in its coffers and will be taxed at a corporate rate (19%) and you will profit from a significant tax saving.
On a daily basis, will this affect the exercise of my profession ?
Very little. In fact, it is your company which will continue to exercise your profession, you will become a salaried person and will receive dividends as a shareholder. However, your professional responsibility will remain unchanged.
What are the disadvantages of exercising the medical profession through a company?
At the financial level, none. However, you will have to hand over the management of your company to professionals.
Is it more advantageous to have a family trust and/or other joint stock companies which would be the shareholdrs of the company that I am readying myself to incorporate ?
Perhaps. Nevertheless, we believe that it is preferable to maintain a holding of relatively simple shares for a certain period in order to allow the doctor to familiarise himself with the functioning of an enterprise.
In the eventuality that you would like to add another doctor, your spouse or another company as a shareholder, you will be able to do so easily, at the opportune moment, when the company is active.
In what way can I have a colleague or a spouse join my company?
The company will have other voting shares (reserved for doctors) and non-voting shares (a relative, a spouse) that it can issue as it pleases when you decide to bring in new shareholders to the company.
When I am incorporated, will I be able to consult my own accountant?
Absolutely and you will have the advantage of doing so in order that he produce financial statements and tax returns of the enterprise (T2 and CO-17).
